What is Remedial Massage?

*To claim on private health insurance, clients must receive treatment from a qualified remedial massage therapist.

Remedial massage is a therapeutic treatment designed to relieve pain, tension, and dysfunction by addressing the root causes of discomfort. It involves a range of techniques tailored to the individual’s needs, focusing on restoring balance and promoting natural healing.

When performed by a recognized remedial massage therapist, this treatment qualifies for private health insurance rebates, making it a practical and accessible option for effective care.

At Nagomi, Instead of forceful techniques, we use gentle, effective methods to calm the nervous system, release tension, and support your body’s natural healing process.

Our signature treatment, SEITAI Remedial, targets the nervous system to release restrictions caused by injury, trauma, or aging. This gentle approach is designed to be safe for individuals with inflammation or acute conditions, ensuring no further damage to affected areas. When these restrictions are eased, most of the pain, particularly myofascial pain, will also diminish.

Unlike traditional massage methods, SEITAI focuses on the nervous system rather than the muscular system, mobilizing the body in specific ways. By encouraging the nerves to send the correct signals from the nerve root to the brain, the body naturally adjusts imbalances. This method delivers faster results without the need for deep pressure or typical massage sensations.

*Deep pressure can damage muscles and potentially harm nerves. The soreness felt after deep pressure indicates muscle damage, while post-treatment tiredness is simply the body recovering. SEITAI, in contrast, promotes lasting results by allowing the body to realign naturally and safely.

*This treatment does not need to undress as long as the clothes are not restricted.

This treatment is ideal for those who enjoy a therapeutic massage with a luxurious touch. Using oils or creams, it combines techniques like trigger point therapy, stretching, remedial massage, and Fascial Stretch Therapy to promote blood circulation and encourage a sense of release.

While the sensation of "good pain" can vary from person to person, it’s important to understand that deep tissue work helps break down muscle fibres for recovery. However, fascia—the connective tissue that can restrict movement and cause pain—may not be directly affected by blood flow alone.

When fresh blood is sent to the area, it helps facilitate the healing process by supplying nutrients to the muscles, but fascia adhesions often require specific techniques like Fascial Stretch Therapy to release. Kaizen Remedial blends relaxation with dynamic techniques, helping to restore balance and leave you feeling refreshed.
